Hello Hogwarts
Its been a minute since ive written an email but its been a wild few weeks lol
To start off i'm in a new area, Windermer. It's crazy but I'll address that later hahaha!
Back to Merritt Island... the last few weeks have been filled with miracles and amazing people! First, we got a referral named Amanda- the first time we visited her she said she wanted to be baptized! Her boyfriend is a member and has been teaching her and her 3 kids...come to find out he is a member from Ooviedo which is my very first area so that was a cool little connection! She wanted to surprise him by receiving all the missionary lessons-she was incredible!
The second miracle is Sean. Sean a man who the missionaries gave a pass a-long card to at a gas station a long time ago. He kind of randomly called us saying he had some questions for us and if we could answer them he wanted he and his whole family to convert...no pressure right? Anyhow, we invited him to church and he came! We learned that his family moved from Pakistan a couple years ago but he'd been thinking about Christianity for years and years now. We were able to answer all his questions and they were all super beautiful. The one that struck me the most was when he said growing up he was taught to follow the commandments out of fear of God. Sean always felt in his heart that we follow commandments out of love and respect for our Father in Heaven. We were able to have an amazing conversation about our loving Father in Heaven. The conversation eventually led into Jesus Christ and we were able to teach that God showed us just how much he loved us by sending His perfect son to die for us. After our conversion Sean told us that if he converts to Christianity his extended family will shun him for the rest of his life. He can never return to his home country because he would be killed. But after sharing all these things with us he said "it will be hard and it will be a long process...but it will be worth it." Sean had felt the spirit, could not deny it and was willing to risk everything for it. It was one of the most impactful spiritual lessons of my mission-I've never met someone with greater faith than Sean.
Fast forward to today. Last week I got a call from the APs to tell me I was being emergency transferred to reopen an area. I was SO SO sad to leave all the people I was teaching and watching grow in the Gospel!. God has a really good way of humbling me right when I'm feeling comfortable hahaha. Now I'm in Windermere which is in the heart of Orlando. We literally drive past Hogwarts everyday lol. There haven't been missionaries in our area for quite a while so my new companion Sis Gibbs and I have our work cut out for us. Windermere is beautiful, but think Mega-mansions and gated communities... Wahooo!
Side note: when we got to our apartment where Elders had been living for years it was the most disgusting and terrifying thing we've ever seen in our lives. Bad enough that the housing coordinators put us in a hotel for the night until it could be addressed in the morning so that was an adventure lol!
A last sidenote is I have been speaking a LOT of Spanish lately. Like full conversations and I'm not on a Spanish speaking mission. The gift of tongues is real! Someone even said "De Cuba?" meaning "from Cuba?" The best compliment I've ever had hahah!
Sorry that was so long but I love and miss you all!!!!!
A loved scripture this week!
2 corinthians 1:3
3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort
